Detailed Down to Its USAAF MarkingsMore than 10,000 of these canvas-covered two-seat biplanes served as primary trainers of the Allied armed forces in World War II. Not only did this classic function as a flying classroom for countless pilots, it was also the last military production biplane built in the US. Originally designed in 1933, collectors still fly Stearmans for fun and nostalgia. This museum quality aerosculpture is handcarved of mahogany and detailed right down to its USAAF markings. The Stearman has a wingspan of 16” and is 12.5” long. The mahogany base is a work of art in itself, with its handcarved Stearman logo and gleaming stainless steel arm.
